LEADERS of Conscience under the auspices of National Consultative Front (NCFront) have commended National Assembly on the adoption of Electronic transmission of election Results.
The Senate on Tuesday reconsidered its earlier stance and adopted the report of the Conference Committee on electoral amendment Bill which recommended that it should be left at the discretion of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to determine modalities for transmission of results.

The group said the country was ripe for true democracy that can be achieved through the use of electronic transmission of results, adding that INEC had declared that it has capacity and ability to conduct electronic voting and transmission of results from polling units to collation centres.
“We welcome the decision of the National Assembly to accede to the yearnings and will of the peoples and citizens of Nigeria by adopting the clause that guarantees electronic voting and transmission of election results as canvassed and vanguarded by NCFront leaders of conscience at the national political summit held on the 1st of October.
“The NCFront believe the country is ripe and due for electronic transmission of election results as the electoral umpire, INEC has posited that it has the capacity and the ability to conduct electronic voting and the transmission of results from the polling units in the entire country electronically.
“We however wish to commend the Nigerian people for their doggedness and their insistence on the need for the National Assembly to guarantee, through the laws of the land, the necessary legal frameworks that will permit INEC to deploy technology towards ensuring a credible electoral process. This has shown again that power truly belongs to the people when the people come together and make demands from those entrusted with leadership and governance.
“We wish to use this medium to reiterate to Nigerians that people’s power is supreme in all circumstances of human endeavour if well mobilised and explored. So, when we come together to chart forward the direction that our society should go and unite on the demands from leaders to do what is needed, nothing can stop us.”
Yunusa stated that the group will launch a coordinating committee of the non-partisan political coalition on electoral reforms under the leadership of Prof Attahiru Jega and Dr Olisa Agbakoba next week at Abuja.
NCFront had on October 1, 2021, organized a National Political Summit to mark the 61st anniversary of Nigeria’s independence with the central theme focusing on Electoral Reforms, emphasizing on electronic transmission of electoral results.
The group thanked Nigerians for standing against exploitative leadership and pressuring the government to rescind
