My Goals For Eagles On The Way, Declares Victor Boniface

Still basking in the euphoria of his 60th minute goal in Leverkusen’s 3-1 defeat of Bundesliga side Bochum Friday night, Super Eagles star Victor Boniface has expressed optimism that his much awaited goal for the national team will come.

Boniface who has played 12 matches for the Eagles but yet to net a goal, appealed to Nigerians for patience adding that he believes his hard work in that regard will eventually pay off.

Taking to his Instagram Boniface who has netted 21 goals in 38 appearances for Leverkusen pleaded saying “Nigerians, please be patient with me; the goal will come.”

The former SG Union striker delivered an impressive 60th minute goal for Leverkusen just days after the Eagles struggled to a 1-1 draw against Warriors of Zimbabwe in Uyo. While Boniface may be struggling to find the goals in the national team for now, he nontheless remains a key player in Xabi Alonso’s squad at the BayArena.

The Uyo result has continued to generate reactions with soccer fans in the country with many hoping and praying that the team avoids missing the next World Cup after missing the last one in Qatar.

Despite the below par performance the Eagles in Uyo, Galatasaray talisman Victor Osimhen shone like a million stars in the encounter grabbing a 74th minute goal which Warriors Tawanda Blessing Chirewa equalised on the dot of 90 minutes.

Super Eagles and Leicester City defender Wilfred Ndidi had also earlier offered his apologies following Eagles failure to fly in Uyo.

Ndidi who was particularly blamed by most fans for missing a golden chance to score in the course of the encounter, regretted the miss and appealed for understanding. Ndidi whose current club Leicester City are in troubled relegation waters in the English premier league chose to communicate with disappointed fans in the common language they often use while watching passionate matches.

“Please make una no vex for goal wey I miss. Nobody perfect for his job,” he wrote,”he said via his Instagram.

Eagles will next host Rwanda at the same Godswill Akpabio Stadium before embarking on an away game against South Africa who are still awaiting FIFA verdict on complaints filed by Lesotho over their alleged use of ineligible player to down the Crocodiles.
