In a recent legal development, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, has been served with a defamation lawsuit demanding ₦200 million in damages.
The legal action is in response to Aloba’s statements during a TVC interview on January 10, 2024, and a subsequent legal document dated January 15, 2024.

Specifically, the document points to Aloba’s assertion during the interview that implied Mohbad’s lawyer collaborated in questionable activities related to the deceased artist’s will.

The contentious statement made by Aloba suggested, “They had to carry the body home for them to do evil things. Could you believe I met a lawyer inside that compound just for them to arrange what they wanted to arrange. I was so shocked when I heard that a 26 years old has a will.
They had to collaborate with the lawyer to maybe put his hand to many things that is not right. A 26 year old now thinking of having his own will… Mohbad was not the kind of person that could ever think of saying that he wanted to use hand to stamp instead of signing. Because he is dead they had to call lawyer to do their own mathematics inside.”
The legal document asserts that Aloba’s statement, whether by direct reference or innuendo, implies that Mohbad’s lawyer engaged in forgery, misrepresentation, falsification, or collaborated with others to present a fraudulent will.
As part of the legal remedy sought, Aloba has been given a three-day ultimatum to retract his statements across various social media platforms.
Additionally, he is required to issue a public apology within 14 days. Failure to comply with these conditions within the stipulated time frame could lead to a ₦200 million lawsuit against him.
It is worth noting that Mohbad’s management has already discredited Aloba’s earlier statements regarding the alleged will, asserting that the singer had not signed or thumbprinted any will before his untimely passing.
