Dr Marcel Mbamalu, CEO of Newstide Publications Limited, Publishers of Prime Business Africa, will on Friday, 10 May, present a paper on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Nigeria’s Education System’ at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha Archdiocese.
This comes three weeks after Dr Mbamalu delivered a lead paper on Artificial Intelligence and political economy and journalism during the international conference held in the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe programme which begins at 10 am at the Trinity College Hall inside the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha, will have in attendance, the Archbishop, His Grace Most Rev Valerian Maduka Okeke, priests, other religious, catechists, parish councilors, youths, and other lay faithful in the archdiocese.
The event is part of the Communication Week (Commweek) Programme Organised by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) for all parishes across Nigeria which began on Sunday May 5 and will end on Sunday, 12 May 2024.
The one week programme with the general theme, “Artificial Intelligence: Opportunities and Challenges for Evangelisation and Social Development,” was “designed by the CBCN to enlighten the present and future leaders of the Church on this big elephant in the room, Artificial Intelligence, which ‘may’ displace humans if care is NOT taken,” said the Director of Communications, Onitsha Archdiocese, Rev. Fr. George Adimike’ in a statement announcing the programme.
According to the event flier, there will also be other resource persons who will deliver lectures on matters of faith in the face of disruptive tendencies of AI and the attendant challenges to morality.
Under different sub-themes, the programme enables both the religious ministers and lay faithful to reflect on the prospects and challenges of AI in 21st century evangelisation.
Dr Mbamalu, a seasoned journalist with over two decade experience in media industry, is a Jefferson Fellow and Member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE). Aside being a Publisher and Communications/Media Consultant, he is also a formidable scholar with extensive research works on Renewable Energy, and Health Communication among others, published in several international journals, including SAGE.
