Liverpool Books Carabao Cup Final Date With Chelsea, Beats Fulham In All-EPL Semifinals Clash

Premier League leaders Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham in the second leg of their semifinals fixtures in the Carabao Cup late Monday night, reports Prime Business Africa.

The first leg had ended 2-1 in favour of the Reds at Craven Cottage but the advantage did not breed complacency from the Reds.

Chelsea had defeated Championship side Middlesbrough in the first semifinals game on Tuesday night and therefore watched intently as the Reds battle with Fulham.

Luiz Diaz put Liverpool ahead  Wednesday night as he scored an excellent goal after brilliantly capitalizing on the diagonal ball from Jarell Quansah to beat Bernd Leno in his near post with the aid of a deflection.

Fulham equalised through Issa Diop who bundled in a deflected shot from Harry Wilson.

The game was expected to go to the extra time at this stage with Fulham threatening to scptr again but Liverpool held firm to ensure that it ended in a draw and go though on 3-2 on aggregate.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will now face Chelsea in the final of the competition at Wembley stadium on February 25 while Fulham’s hopes of a first Carabao Cup title continues to linger.

The London side will be in action this weekend in the FA Cup fourth round aas they host Newcastle United on Saturday while Sunday sees Liverpool welcome Norwich City.
