It was like the appearance of a big oracle, and when he emerged to see his entire living room filled with everyone clapping and returning his greetings as he waved in greeting, the 92-year-old who turns 93 next month was moved to tears as his family held and identified with him in that emotional state.
It was tears of joy not of sorrow, not the love of a loved one but that of recognition of hard work aimed at putting smiles on the faces of millions through his own kind of music, giving encouragement to people as they toil every day to make ends meet and telling them through music that slow and steady wins the case.

Prime Business Africa reports that at that event, Brian Jotter revealed that while he was a kid he never liked it when his father, a fan of Mike Ejeagha played the songs while they were travelling to the East.
According to him when “As a kid when my Dad played the songs I used to be angry in my mind, it didn’t make sense to me. But as God will have it I was just going through tit tok and came across the song again and it made sense to me, so it is just the will of God” he said even as he added that anything in life is possible.

The lesson to be learnt from this visit and the emotions that it generated is that hard work pays. It may not be immediate but will definitely pay somewhere along the line.
Another lesson is that it is important to make music that has useful message, the likes of Mike Ejeagha were singing music that had message, they may not have made a lot of money but their music remain evergreen and resonates from time to time and life goes on.
No Wrong Time For Award And Recognition In Life
Finally it may be fair to say no time is late to achieve a merited award and recognition, it will come at God’s appointed time. Gentleman Mike Ejeagha may not be as agile as he used to be as a resulting of ageing, he may not be walking but using walking aid to move even from his room to his living room, but he certainly happy to be alive to enjoy the fruit of his labour, to see his efforts being appreciated not only by the oldies but also but the Genzees who quick to dismiss the oldies as analogue and all that.
