Kudish Terrorist Group Claims Responsibility As 2 Die Attacking Govt Buildings In Turkey

Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) a Turkish militant group has claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack that took place near Government buildings in Ankara, Turkey’s capital on Sunday.

Video footage shared online, showed one of the attackers walking brusquely to the gate of the Ministry of Interior building before a loud explosion was heard, killing the attacker. The second attacker was killed by security officials in Ankara.

Two Police Officers were injured in the process. However, Turkey’s Minister of Interior said the injuries sustained by the officers are not life threatening.

According to AFP, the group said: “A sacrificial action was carried out against the Turkish Interior Ministry by a team from our Immortal Brigade.”

This is the first blast in the Turkish capital since 2016 when the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks attacked a convoy of vehicles carrying military personnel in Ankara, killing 30 people and wounding 60 and in March that same year, 37 people were killed and 100 more were injured in another bomb blast.

Speaking at the reopening of parliamentary session after a 3-month break. Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called the attack “last flutters of terrorism.”

He added: “Those who threaten the peace and security of citizens have not achieved their goals and never will.”
