A banker in Anambra State identified simply as Ifeoma has been reportedly killed by kidnappers after collecting ransom from the family.

It was gathered that the deceased was kidnapped in Onitsha, a commercial city in the state.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, 14th January 2025, human rights activis,t Harrison Gwamnishi, confirmed the incident and stating that although the family paid the ransom sought, the abductors nonetheless killed her and disposed of her body at Ideani junction, along Nnobi/Alor road.

“Ifeoma, a banker was kidnapped in Anambra State. Ransom was demanded and the family paid but her kidnappers still killed her and dumped her body around along Ideani junction Nnobi/Alor road Anambra. 

“Lives are being taken daily and it’s sad nothing is being done to end all these k!llings. WHO IS NEXT? If we fold our hands and do nothing, it may get to you,” he added.

Confirming the occurrence, Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, stated that the body had been removed from the road.

“The command received the information about an abandoned female corpse found along the Nnobi-Alor Road allegedly dumped by suspected kidnappers.

“The corpse has been evacuated, the pictures have been escalated and investigations have begun to unravel the circumstances behind the death of the victim,” Ikenga stated.
