Music Producer, DJ and television presenter, Kehinde Ogungbe, simply known as Kenny Ogungbe, has revealed how Eedris Abdulkareem doled out N2 million for him when it mattered most.

Ogungbe who bared his mind in a podcast recalled how he needed money to pay his children’s school fees and how Abdulkareem simply assured that the school fees would be paid and gave him N2 million. According to Ogungbe who is the founder of Kennis Music and owner of Kennis 104.1 F.M Lagos, alongside Dayo D1 Adeleye, Eedris Abdulkareem was the first person to give him such a huge support.

“I needed money to pay school fees, and he said Baba don’t worry, the school fees will be paid, and he gave me two million naira” he further recalled that it was at a time when the naira was exchanging for about N120 to N130 to the dollar.

Continuing, Ogungbe who has contributed in no small measure to the discovering of many musical artists in the country, said ”I didn’t have to come and tell you I need money, he just figured it out, this guy needs something and he gave me money, I have not said this anywhere before now” he enthused.

Speaking further on relationship with his artists, he disclosed that his relationship with Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja has come a long way as he was his best man at his wedding.

“We are very close, I was his best friend at his wedding, till tomorrow I respect Hajia his wife and children, they are very lovely people.”

But when asked whether he has such close relationship or something close to what he has with Eedris at Kennis Music, he made a submission that sounded almost like a rhythm “Well I will say Tu Baba but Tu Baba never give me two million.”

Abdulkareem who  is married to Yetunde  with children, may have accepted the one man one wife advice from Kenny Ogungbe who revealed that he indeed advised the popular rapper who had a running battle with former President Olusegun Obasanjo over ‘Nigeria jaga jaga’ album to settle for one wife and avoid having babies outside marriage.

The advice according to Ogungbe is as result of his personal experience having been born in a polygamous family. “I was born into a polygamous home and I know exactly what it entails,” he said .

Eedris Abdulkareem, one of the most popular artists in the country, uses his music to fight social injustice and has battled forces in the cause of doing so in the past.

The 51-year-old musician was born in a polygamous family in Kano. His father was from Ilesha in Osun State, and his mother was from Ogun State, all in the south western part of Nigeria, but he adopted Kano State as his state of origin. He lost his father at the age of two and eight of his elder siblings as time went by.

Eedris Abdulkareem who released Emi Lokan in June 2024, criticising the hardship in the country under the present administration, did not equally spare religious leaders accusing them of keeping quiet in the midst excruciating pains of survival in the country.

Among some of his controversial songs that made waves and continues to resonate with his fans include; Nigeria Jaga Jaga 2004, Letter to the President 2005, Jaga Jaga part 2 and reloaded 2012 and 2021 respectively as well as Trouble the sleep 2016.

Recall that Eedris Abdulkareem founded his own record label, La Kreem Music in 2005.
