“There’s so much to look forward to in the second half of the season. I can’t wait to be part of it,” Phillips said after putting pen to paper.
“The England international is aiming to be part of Gareth Southgate’s squad to the 2024 European Championship in Germany and is keen on playing time before the end of the current season.
“There’s an unbelievable group here and if I can come in and add the quality that I know I’m capable of, I’m sure we can give the West Ham fans plenty to be excited about between now and the end of the season,” Phillips quipped in his first interview at the club.
The midfielder made just two starts and 16 total Premier League appearances in his 18 months at the Etihad Stadium as he struggled for game time under Guardiola.
Guardiola has sent the England international his best wishes to succeed at West Ham. The manager admits he feels responsible for Phillips’ lack of game time and hopes he sees more action with the Hammers.
