Anthony Joshua will only step aside for a fight between Tyson Fury and Oleskandr Usyk should the camp of Fury stump up the princely sum of £40million, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed.

Joshua suffered a crushing defeat to Usyk in their September 25 bout at the London Stadium and is looking forward to a rematch after invoking the clause to that effect as stipulated by the contract signed by both parties.

On his part, Fury defeated Deontay Wilder in their October fight and was billed to face Dillian Whyte next albeit that seems to be on the back burner now with Fury keen on the fight with Usyk.

Hearn has revealed that the Briton, Joshua who has a Nigerian heritage with his parents originally from Ogun state can wait a bit longer for his next fight.

However money would have to exchange hands for the 2012 Olympics medallist to soften his stance of reclaiming the belts he lost to Usyk.

“We’ve had their team reach out to us, “Hearn stated.

“Seven figures? A million? If you want to get him not to fight Oleksandr Usyk you have to times that by 40…”

Hearn added: “At the moment there is communication between the two teams to say is it something… and the answer is AJ has not been spoken to about this yet.

“I’ll deal with it and when I feel there’s an opportunity for Anthony and 258 [Management] we’ll sit down with them and present it to them but I won’t do that until it’s the right opportunity.

“If there’s a route and an offer and it makes sense then we’ll see but right now, it’s just conversations between the camps.

“At the moment Anthony Joshua is fighting Oleksandr Usyk and that’s the situation.”

Joshua has fought in 26 professional bouts and claimed 24 wins, suffering just two defeats.
