Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi on Saturday evening produced a beautiful performance in Everton’s impressive 3-0 win against Crystal Palace setting up the assists in two of the three goals scored by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil.
The Nigerian was named Man of the Match in the game.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe assists put Iwobi in the mix as one of the most creative midfielders in the Premier League this season after 11 rounds of matches and joint-second in the Premier League this season, with only Manchester City’s midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne ahead of him.
As well as grabbing two assists for the Toffees, Iwobi enjoyed a pass accuracy of 87 per cent, having 53 touches of the ball and winning 100 per cent of the tackles he attempted against the Eagles.
The Liverpool Echo gave Iwobi an near perfect rating of 9 out 10 in arguably the most spectacular performance of his Everton career so far.
“Everton’s most-creative outlet, he provided the assist for the two goals laying on a delicious pass for Calvert-Lewin to net the opener before his cheeky back-heel teed up substitute McNeil to complete a slick one-two for the third.” 9/10
The4thofficial.net gave Alex Iwobi a decent rating of 7.5/10.
“He ran the show in the opponent’s half and has got a couple of assists to show for his efforts.”
Speaking to talkSPORT, Lampard said: “He is one of the best midfield players in the league, in my opinion, in terms of being a six or an eight.
“He was a six earlier in the season and was really good for us and has moved to an eight, so slightly more advanced for us, and he’s been great.
“His development has been great. It’s a funny one, because there’s been a perception about Alex since I came in, but it’s all his work.
“All I’ve done is support him and try to adapt the position slightly and the rest is him.”
