The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has postponed the Enugu East Senatorial election, which was originally scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, 25th February, following the death of Labour Party’s candidate.gor the poll, Barr Oyibo Chukwu.
According to INEC, the election will now hold alongside the governorship polls on 11th March 2023.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelPrime Business Africa reported had that Chukwu and five others were allegedly shot and set ablaze in his Sienna bus at Amechi, Enugu South Local Government Area, while returning home from a campaign rally on Wednesday night, February 22.

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, also in a statement on Thursday, strongly condemned the killing, urging that wanton bloodletting in political season should stop.
He also called on security agencies to launch investigation into the matter in order to bring the culprits to book.
Oyibo’s gruesome shaked the area on Thursday, with lawyers who are members of the Nigeria Bar Association in Enugu State boycotting sittings in various courts across the state to express their anger over the unfortunate incident. They also gave police 48 hours to launch a discreet investigation and fish out the perpetrators.
The Nigeria Police Force, Enugu State Command in response, ordered a manhunt for the culprits, promising the ensure adequate security during the elections.
