Former governor of Rivers State and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has said he is not in any way distracted by the current political crisis in his home state but focused on delivering on the assignment given to him by President Bola Tinubu.
Wike, who spoke on Friday in Abuja during an inspection tour of some projects to be commissioned by the president to mark his one year in office, said his priority now is to ensure that the projects are completed as scheduled.

Wike, who expressed satisfaction at the level of work done on the road construction projects, applauded the contractors for delivery within the specified timeframe.

The FCT minister further expressed belief that given the level of work done so far, the projects will be ready for commissioning beginning from 27th May to 6th June, adding that “It is going to be a nine-day long event.”
“So, we are happy, and contractors are meeting up, and all the promises they made, they have been fulfilled and we have also fulfilled our own part to make sure that we have cash back-up. None of them is complaining in terms of cash” he said.
Wike further disclosed that the Abuja Metroline will be flagged off for commercial operations by May 27.
The immediate past governor of Rivers State has been in loggerheads with his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who claimed he was being intimidated by Wike.
Wike on his part, has accused Fubara of reneging on the agreement they had when he worked to ensure that the latter got elected as governor.
Supporters of both political gladiators have continued to clash. Nine commissioners in Fubara’s cabinet said to be Wike’s loyalists have so far resigned and the seats of about 25 state assembly members who defected from PDP to APC have been declared vacant for violating provisions of the constitution.
