Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Idah Peterside, has called for the immediate ban of Napoli and Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen.

According to the South African based pastor, Osimhen needs to apologise publicly to Finidi George, whom he described as a legend. He accused Osimhen of just opening his mouth to say things that are unpalatable.

Osimhen, according to him, should have called Finidi, if he has issues with him instead of just ranting his mouth. The National team, he insists is sacred and those days when we wore the jersey, we respected those who wore it before us. Osimhen must be made to apologise to Finidi, apologise to NFF and Nigerians for such behaviour.

If we allow that, it will not augur well from Nigeria. He should be made to apologise or be banned from playing for the national team.

“He needs to come out and apologise for what he said to Finidi George. Finidi George is a legend. If you have issues with him, you call him and say this and that, that is what responsible people do.

“I think the NFF should call Victor Osimhen and ask him to apologise, he must apologise, he has to apologise. Our National team is sacred when we wore this jersey he respected it, he is not the first and will not be the last.

“I think action should be taken because if we leave this kind of thing to continue, it will not augur well for Nigeria,” he said among other submissions, adding that the nonsense must stop.

Peterside who doubles as a television pundit, retired from active football in 2002. He also served as former media officer of the Super Eagles.

In 2022, he participated in the NFF election, giving reasons why he is stepping into the ring with intent to take charge of the football house. According to him then , “We want to change Nigeria football. I have a dream, let’s make it work. Let the young come out and let the old come out,  it is a revolution. Our teams need to play at the World Cup.

“I have a dream, let’s make it work,” enthused the former BCC Lions of Gboko, Enyimba and Moroka Swallows ace.
