Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on Thursday, 10 April 2025, signed six new bills into law, aimed at strengthening security, health and creating a conducive environment for investments in the state.
In a statement, the governor’s Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, said the signing of the new laws took place at the Governor’s Lodge in Amawbia.

According to Aburime, the newly passed laws cover a wide range of issues, demonstrating the Soludo administration’s dedication to enhancing citizens’ quality of life.
The laws are:
- Anambra State Development and Investment Corporation Law, 2025
- Anambra State Electricity Law, 2025
- Anambra State Homeland Security (Amendment) Law, 2025
- Anambra State Herbal Practice Law, 2024
- Anambra State Indigenous Traditional Medicine Practices Law, 2025
- Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No. 2) Law, 2025.
Aburime said the Anambra State Development and Investment Corporation Law, 2025, and the Anambra State Electricity Law, 2025, are expected to bolster the state’s economic landscape and energy infrastructure.
While the Homeland Security (Amendment) Law, 2025, is aimed at enhancing safety protocols in the state, the Herbal Practice Law and Indigenous Traditional Medicine Practices Laws, seek to integrate traditional healthcare practices into the state’s medical framework.
He further explained that the Anambra State Mission Schools of Nursing and Midwifery (Amendment No. 2) Law, 2025, “intends to improve nursing and midwifery education standards within the state.”
He added that during the signing, Governor Soludo commended the cooperation between the executive and the State House of Assembly, and emphasised the positive impact these laws would have on the community.
As these new laws go into effect, they mark a significant advancement in Governor Soludo’s goal for a safe and prosperous Anambra State.
