Gospel Music Industry Mourns As Aduke Gold Passes On

The Gospel music industry in Nigeria is in pain following the death of popular singer, Aduke Gold.

Aduke Gold’s demise was made known by her colleague Esther Igbeke on her Instagram page on Monday.

Esther posted a tribute with Aduke Gold’s picture and the caption: “A general has fallen. RIP.”

Circumstance surrounding the death of the Ilesha born singer, who came to limelight, with her live performance at the first remembrance of late gospel artiste, Baba Ara, has not been made known.

Igbekele,  in further tribute to the fallen Gospel singer wrote, “Despite the competitive nature of the gospel music industry, Aduke Gold made a significant impact with her soul-lifting songs and unwavering dedication to her craft.

“Her talent and passion earned her a growing fanbase and increasing popularity, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.”

Aduke Gold’s breakthrough single, “Nitori 0go” (translated as ‘Because of Glory’), featured on her popular eight-track album, gained viral praise on social media.

Her death comes barely six months after the death of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who died on 28th April, 2024.

Aduke Gold who was initially known as Aduke Penkele, grew up in Ogba and Badagry areas of Lagos, began her professional career in 2004.

Apart from her love for music, Gold was a child educator, with a passion for teaching young children. She studied History and International Relations at the Lagos State University. She also holds a Diploma in Child Psychology.
