Ghana Football Association (GFA) president, Kurt Okraku has warned South American giants Uruguay that the Black Stars will be going for a revenge against Luis Suarez and his international teammates at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In last Friday’s draw in Doha the Black Stars were placed in Group H alongside Uruguay, Portugal and South Korea.

Ghana were eliminated by Uruguay on penalties in South Africa 2010 World Cup having seen Asamoah Gyan miss an extra-time spot-kick after Luis Suarez was sent off for handball.

A win for Ghana in that game could have ensured that the West African nation becomes the first African team to reach the semifinals of the World Cup.

And after both teams were paired together at Friday’s draw, Okraku told BBC Sport Africa: “We believe that it will be revenge time. It is important that we all set the record straight.

“We thought we had clearly won that particular game but for that save from Suarez. It is very interesting for us to pitch against them again, obviously with fond memories this time.”

The four-time African champions will be making their fourth appearance at the mundial after participating in the

2006, 2010 and 2014 editions.

Ghana booked their place in the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the expense of Nigeria after their 1-1 aggregate win on away goals rule was enough to take them through having played a scoreless draw in Kumasi.
