GBV: WARIF Set To Hold 6th No Tolerance March In Nigeria, London, Washington, Others

In line with its annual tradition, the Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF), has scheduled to hold its 6th edition of Global No Tolerance March (NTMarch) in different cities across the world on Saturday, 7th December as part of the campaign against gender-based violence.

Since it began in 2019, the WARIF No Tolerance March has become an effective rallying point for collective action aimed at tackling the threat of gender-based violence in Nigeria and other parts of Africa. NTMarch), The campaign has become a resounding movement dedicated to raising awareness regarding the prevalence of rape, sexual violence, and gender inequality in Nigeria and across the world.

This annual event usually holds within the period of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a campaign dedicated to ending violence against women and girls worldwide.

The NTMarch mobilises thousands of participants, including celebrities, influencers, men, women, and youth, in Nigeria and across the world to stand with WARIF in saying “No Tolerance” to violence against women and girls.

According to a statement by the organisers, this year’s campaign themed, “UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls,” will take place in various cities across the world. In Nigeria, it will be held in Lagos, Abuja, and Ibadan. In South Africa, the march will hold in Johannesburg. For Europe, it will be in Frankfurt, London, Manchester, and on the North American continent in New York, Houston, Minnesota, and Washington D.C.

Warif No Tolerance March All cities

The statement clarified that all proceeds from the March will be directed to support survivors of rape and sexual violence who seek free post-incident services that include Forensic Medical Examinations and Treatment; Psychosocial Counselling as well as Social Welfare needs such as shelter and legal aid attended to at the WARIF Rape Crisis Centres.

Highlighting the importance of the NTMarch, WARIF founder, Dr. Kemi DaSilva-Ibru, said it is a means of creating awareness about the menace of SGBV and requires collective action to create a lasting positive change.

“Ending violence against women and girls requires bold and consistent actions from every sector of society. Together, we must unite, invest, and implement sustainable solutions to break this devastating cycle of abuse,” DaSilva-Ibru stated.

The group called on all youth, men and women to join the movement and promote the message of the 6th Global WARIF No Tolerance March, emphasizing that such collective action could help in creating “a world where every woman and girl lives free from fear and violence.”

WARIF is a non-profit organisation focused on addressing the prevalence of rape, sexual violence, and trafficking of women and girls. “Through sustainable and impactful initiatives, WARIF provides intervention, treatment, and preventive measures to combat the devastating effects of GBV in Nigerian communities,” the group added.
