In a rebuttal against claims of N10 billion allocated for his residence renovation, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, dismissed the allegations as misinformation from purveyors of fake news.
Addressing the issue on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, he clarified that the allocated funds were earmarked for the overhaul of the Presidential Quarters in Dodan Barracks and the Vice President’s Lodge in Lagos.
Join our WhatsApp Channel“I live in my private residence,” Gbajabiamila firmly asserted, underscoring that no provision exists in the 2024 Appropriation Bill for his personal accommodation.
He stressed the need for accuracy in public debates on budgetary allocations, emphasizing the importance of factual engagement over unfounded claims.
While welcoming scrutiny of government spending, Gbajabiamila highlighted the necessity for responsible discourse, stating, “Healthy public debate about government actions requires us to be responsible with our utterances and engage based on facts rather than insinuations and falsehoods.”
The initial online publication suggesting N10 billion allocation for Gbajabiamila’s residence renovation and an additional N10.1 billion for office software was promptly refuted.
Gbajabiamila reiterated that the budget allocation specifically targets the renovation of lodges at Dodan Barracks, distancing himself from any personal expense claims.
In the face of misinformation, Gbajabiamila’s call for responsible and fact-based discourse underlines the importance of accurate reporting and measured discussions in public debates.
