Queen Naomi Silekunola, a former wife of the Ooni of Ife, in a recent interview opened up on her experiences as Queen in the revered monarch’s palace.
The Ondo State-born model described her marriage to Oba Enitan Ogunwusi (Ọjájá II) as a bitter-sweet experience, though she refrained from sharing specific details.

Reflecting on her time in the palace, Queen Naomi stated, “There were really sweet moments and there were really bitter moments. It is not yet time to talk about it because some things are meant to just teach you by yourself.” She believes that the lessons she learned from her experiences are personal and have helped shape her.
Queen Naomi also disclosed that she did enter the palace “too innocent and soft,” but had since learned the importance of being strong, bold, and courageous in life. She stressed that she is “currently enjoying being 30 years old,” as her experiences actually made her stronger.

Since Queen Naomi’s departure from the palace, the Ooni has reportedly taken on six additional wives, which may have effectively ruled out any possibility of a reconciliation between him and Queen Naomi. In the interview, Queen Naomi stated that she wouldn’t be able to survive “in the midst of six mature and strong women.”
Despite the challenges she faced, Queen Naomi’s positive outlook and determination to learn from her experiences are evident in her words. She acknowledged the personal nature of her lessons and expressed that she will share her story when the time is right and when she feels called to do so by a higher power.
