Saka was in Nigeria last month to visit his grandparents and for some humanitarian reasons which led to a visit also of the Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Gerrard who a glorious career at Liverpool but never won a major title with the Three Lions of England spoke to the Daily Mail on his thoughts on the performance of the Arsenal forward.

“The scary thing is that he is only going to get better,” Gerrard noted.

“He has already shown world class potential and i think he is going to get to another level,” Gerrard who last coached in the Premier League as Aston Villa manager added.

Gerrard has received the attention of clubs in the Saudi Arabian league and could delve into a coaching career in the Middle East.

Saka has gone on a summer vacation and is, expected to resume for pre season training in the third week of July.

Gerrard interestingly in March 2022 warned Saka he needs to toughen up after the Arsenal winger asked for more protection during the Gunners’ victory over Aston Villa.

Saka told BT Sport after scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory at Villa Park that he had talked to referee Andrew Madley about the treatment he was getting from the Villa players.
