Former Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, is in search of new job, but not one that comes with a lot of pressure and stress.

The 64-year-old who led Super Eagles to second place finish at the last AFCON in Cote d Ivoire, said though there has been offers from South Africa, Europe and Brazil, none has translated into a possible deal.

The former Real Madrid Assistant Coach, who has managed over 20 teams, including three national teams, viz Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and Nigeria, bared his mind in a chat with SABC Sport.

“I am waiting for a good job, for a good step. It is true there were offers from South Africa, Europe and in Brazil as well, but I didn’t take any and feel good for those jobs.

“Someone called to tell me about the Sundown’s job and about other things but until now, nothing special,” he revealed.

On the Eagles job he left shortly after the last AFCON, despite reports in some quarters that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was thinking of offering him contract extension, the Portuguese coach said he would have still left the job due to pressure and stress.

“I decided that when I finish the AFCON, I will leave. I had put too much effort in my job, it was too much stress. Everyone supported me – my family and the players but I grew fatigue, I thought it was enough for me, even if I had won the AFCON,” Peseiro said.

Despite the challenges, Peseiro reflected fondly on his time with the Nigerian team, describing it as a “special” experience.

He praised the talent of the Super Eagles players, saying, “Nigeria was an amazing job, with good players. We played very well in the AFCON. I think our team was the best until we lost to Cote d’Ivoire in the tournament.”

Primebusiness.africa recalls that Peseiro led Super Eagles in 23 matches during his 22-month reign winning 11 matches with seven losses and five draws.
