Nigeria’s opponents in Sunday’s crucial make or mar second match in the 2022 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup qualifiers, Mali on Friday evening lost their first group game of the qualifying series.
The west Africans were defeated 84-64 by China who also defeated Nigeria on Thursday.
The Asians have thus booked their place at the 2022 FIBA Women’s World Cup which holds in Australia by beating the west African opponents.
Nigeria must defeat Mali on Sunday to stand a chance of qualifying or bid farewell to the tournament altogether.
The tournament will hold between Thursday 22 September to Sunday 1st October 2022.
