Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of LP while celebrating Eid-Al-Kabir with the leaders of the Anambra Muslim Community said that he chose to celebrate with the Muslim community to show the brotherly love and unity that should exist among Nigerians, regardless of tribal, political, or religious belief evening,

The celebration marked the fulfilment of his pledge to assist in the renovation of the mosques in the state capital of Awka and the commercial metropolis of Onitsha.

Shortly, after giving the cheques to the Muslim community in Anambra, and while speaking to newsmen, Mr Obi said, “We are all Nigerians, and we will continue to live as one irrespective of our religious beliefs or political affiliations. What we owe each other is brotherly love and care, so we can live in peace and unity as a nation. We have no other nation but Nigeria and we must make it work.

He encouraged them not to give up on the country, instead, to keep working together to create a new Nigeria that will benefit all Nigerian.

“I know that times are difficult for everybody in the country, but if we rise above our religious, political and ethnic divisions, we will be able to surmount our challenges in unity. We will not give up on our nation, but continue to work for a new Nigeria that will be beneficial to every Nigerian”, He added.

Alhaji Iliyasu Yushau, the Sarki of the Onitsha Muslim Community and head of the Muslim community in Anambra State, express gratitude to Mr Obi for his actions and recalled his last visit to them in April.

He attested that from the time Mr Obi was governor of Anambra State till the present, he has been their support system. And that thoughts of what he has done for them in the past added to the recent acts of kindness, are still fresh in their memories.

He added that Mr Obi by his deeds, demonstrated the qualities of a leader who is eager to care for everyone regardless of tribe or faith. And prayed that Allah bless him and grant him the desires of his heart

The Sarki of Awka Muslim, Alhaji Garba Haruna was obviously pleased with Peter Obi’s. He commended Mr Obi for his simplicity and consistency while claiming that by making time to participate in their Sallah celebration, the former governor showed that he is a true detribalized Nigerian.

He stated that when Obi came to visit their mosque in Awka in April, he was appalled by its terrible condition and promised to help with renovations and sincerely,  he has kept his word today.

Apart from the cheques he presented to the Communities, Obi gave them gifts and food items to celebrate the day.
