EFCC Arraigns Car Dealer For N2m Fraud In Gombe

The Gombe Zonal Command of the  Economic and Financial  Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arraigned a Car dealer, Ahmadu Dauda Jadda, before Justice J. A. Awak of Gombe State High Court on a one-count charge of stealing to the tune of N2,000,000.00 ( Two Million Naira only).

Jadda, who deals in used vehicles, was alleged to have approached the complainant to purchase a Volkswagen Sharon bus at N2, 000,000. He offered to pay N1.200, 000 in two weeks and the balance in four equal installments.

After taking possession of the vehicle, the defendant only paid N500, 000. And, all efforts by the complainant to recover the balance or his vehicle, failed.

According to a statement by EFCC head of media and publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, an investigation by the agency revealed that the defendant upon taking possession of the vehicle promptly sold it and diverted the proceed for personal use.

Upon arraignment, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Thereafter, his counsel, Ayuba Rabiu, applied for his bail which was granted in the sum of N2, 000,000 (Two Million Naira only) and a surety in like sum.
