According to the presiding officer for the unit, who announced the results, Okpebholo won by a wide margin as others parties like Labour and PDP, had one vote each with two votes declared invalid from 107 accredited for the election.

The APC candidate had earlier after casting his vote, boasted that no other party would get a single vote in his area as his people love and support him.

“We will win this election by a landslide and move our state forward by God’s grace. If there is anybody at home, please come out and cast your vote. We are not comfortable with the little shenanigans that is going on, particularly from the APC guys. This is a single state election and INEC has all the time to prepare, so there was no need for the delay.”

“There are rumours that they are trying to undermine the election process. Many of them have been caught with ballot papers, and PVCs.

“The worst is that they go round trying to buy votes. They buy votes for N15,000 to N20,000. They are trying everything to subvert the process.”

Senator Okpebholo, also won in the polling unit of Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of the state and current senator representing Edo North.

Okpebholo scored 403 votes, while Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got just one vote. Candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) came third.

Oshiomhole voted at Ward 10, Polling Unit 1, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
