D'banj To Release Sequel To His 2008 Album 'Entertainer'

D’banj has announced the release of a sequel to his 2008 classic album, ‘Entertainer’. In an interview on Hip TV, he shared that the new album, a follow-up to his critically acclaimed album, ‘Entertainer’, will be released on 28th June, 2024.

The original ‘Entertainer’ album, which featured hit singles like ‘Igwe’, ‘Fall In Love’, ‘Gbono Feli Feli’, and ‘Suddenly’, played a major role in shaping the afrobeat music scene. His most notable collaboration with Snoop Dogg on ‘Mr. Endowed’ remix, was one of the first moment that showcased Nigerian music on the international stage.

Reflecting on his role as a pioneer in international collaborations within the Afrobeats genre, D’banj highlighted how his work with global artists changed the narrative for Nigerian musicians.

“Before, featuring an international artist was seen as them doing you a favour… but we were able to deliver the biggest and that gave hope and visibility to the kids,” D’banj shared during the interview.

In addition to discussing his past achievements, D’banj expressed his excitement about the current Nigerian Music scene. He also revealed his plans to work with contemporary artists like; Ayra Starr, Rema, and Ruger.

Celebrating two decades in the music industry, D’banj is set to mark this milestone with his new album. “Just like every good movie, there’s a sequel… this is ‘Entertainer’ the sequel coming 16 years after,” he announced enthusiastically on Hip TV.

Ahead of the album release, D’banj has already dropped several new singles, with the latest being ‘Koko’, written by Olamide Badoo.
