The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recorded 5,560,093 fresh registrations as at Monday February 7, 2022, in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
This was revealed in data released by INEC on CVR weekly update on Monday.
According to the information, total number of voters, as at the third quarter since the exercise began is 9,331,977. This figure, according to the electoral body, includes application for voter transfer to new location, requests for replacement of PVCs, update of voter information record, among others.

For fresh registration, the data shows that the number of completed registration is 2,959,380. The number that registered online stands at 1,213,742, while 1,745,638 people registered physically.
Demographic presentation of the data also indicates total figures of online registrants based on age, occupation, gender and capacity (Persons With Disabilities).
By gender, number of male registrants stands at 4,982,502; females, 4,349,475.
For age group, the youth (18- 34) are 5,777,404; middle age (35-49), 2,359,730; elderly (50 -69) 1,047,895; old (70 and above), 146,948; and PWDs, 93,123.

Distribution of online registrations by occupation shows students having the highest number of enrollment with 2,737, 361; followed by those not specified, 2,113,494; those in business recorded 1,544,379; farmers, 861,480; house wives, 703,097; artisans, 458,535; trading, 487,852; and civil servants, 303,887.
INEC’s spokesman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, in an exchange with Prime Business Africa on Tuesday reiterated that the online and physical voter registration which began in June 2021 is still ongoing at INEC’s state or local government offices from Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 3:00 pm.
