The University of Lagos and the University of Bayero secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively, demonstrating the impressive diversity and quality of higher education in Nigeria.

The Times Higher Education World University ranking assesses 1,904 universities across 108 countries and regions. Employing the WUR 3.0 methodology, it evaluates institutions in five key areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry connections, and international outlook.

This rigorous evaluation ensures a comprehensive and nuanced assessment of each university’s strengths. Several other Nigerian universities also achieved high rankings, including the University of Ilorin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Afe Babalola University, University of Benin, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Lagos State University, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Obafemi Awolowo University, and the University of Port Harcourt.

Remarkably, among the top 15 universities in Nigeria, nine are situated in the South West, two in the South East, two in the South South, one in the North West, and one in the North Central. This distribution underscores the nationwide reach and quality of higher education institutions across the country.
