Nigerian on-air personality, Kayode Oladotun, popularly known as Dotun, has been legally mandated to refrain from making derogatory comments about D’banj, his ex-wife’s brother, in the ongoing custody battle for their children.
This court order came as a result of a plea filed by D’banj himself through his lawyer, Toheeb Lawal, in the Chief District Court of the Federal Capital Territory at Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe court documents, signed and stamped by Honourable Emmanuel Iyana and dated October 18, 2023, explicitly forbid Dotun or anyone associated with him from discussing the singer in a negative light on any social media platform or news media.
The court’s statement reads, “An order restraining the defendant (Do2dtun) either by himself, servants, privies, cohorts, representatives, or any person deriving authority from him from further making any malicious, intimidating, or defamatory post directed at the complainant (D’banj) on any social media platform (X, Instagram, etc.) or news media.”

Additionally, the court has directed the deputy inspector of police from the force intelligence bureau to investigate a criminal complaint that D’banj filed against Dotun. A comprehensive report is expected within two weeks, and a hearing has been scheduled for October 30.
This legal action stems from the ongoing dispute between Dotun and his ex-wife, Taiwo Omotayo, concerning the custody of their two daughters. Dotun alleged that Taiwo violated their previous custody agreement by preventing him from seeing their children.
He took to Instagram to vent his frustration, and in the process, dragged D’banj into the turmoil, suggesting that he was assisting Taiwo in her actions.
In response, Taiwo clarified that she hadn’t prevented Dotun from seeing their daughters and that he had access to them whenever he wished. She also extended an apology to her brother for any online embarrassment caused by Dotun’s actions.
This isn’t the first time Dotun has involved D’banj in his disputes with his ex-wife. In 2022, during their divorce proceedings, Dotun accused D’banj of contributing to the spread of false narratives about him and his actions during their marriage, including allegations of emotional abuse, forced abortion, and domestic violence.
As of now, Dotun claims he still hasn’t been able to see his children, while Taiwo has opted to make her Instagram account private.
