Renowned music mogul and producer Sean Combs, popularly known as Puff Daddy ‘Diddy’, is facing allegations in a federal lawsuit filed by R&B singer Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura.

The lawsuit, filed in Federal District Court in Manhattan, accuses Combs of rape and a decade-long pattern of physical abuse.

Cassie, once romantically involved with Combs, claims that the abuse began shortly after they met in 2005 when she was 19 years old.

According to the lawsuit, Combs engaged in a disturbing pattern of control, including the administration of drugs, physical assault, and coercing Cassie into sexual encounters with male prostitutes, all while recording the incidents.

The suit further alleges that in 2018, at the end of their relationship, Combs forcibly entered Cassie’s home and raped her.

Cassie, breaking her silence, stated, “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.”

In response to the allegations, Combs’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, vehemently denied the claims, stating that Combs rejects these “offensive and outrageous allegations.” Brafman disclosed that Cassie had persistently demanded $30 million from Combs over the past six months, threatening to write a damaging book about their relationship.

Despite rejecting the financial demand, Cassie proceeded to file the lawsuit, which Brafman described as containing “baseless and outrageous lies.”

According to Douglas Wigdor, Cassie’s lawyer, Combs attempted to silence her with a substantial financial offer. “Mr. Combs offered Ms. Ventura eight figures to silence her and prevent the filing of this lawsuit,” said Wigdor. However, Cassie rejected his efforts, leading to the legal action.

This case is the latest in a series of sexual assault civil suits emerging in the music industry. Notable figures like Steven Tyler, L.A. Reid, and Neil Portnow have faced similar allegations. The response from these accused individuals has varied, with Portnow denying the accusations, while Tyler and Reid have not issued responses.

The narrative presented by Cassie in the lawsuit details her entry into Combs’s jet-set lifestyle after signing with Bad Boy, which released her debut album in 2006.

However, the suit suggests that this glamorous lifestyle quickly turned into a nightmare, with Combs exerting unprecedented control over various aspects of Cassie’s life, including her career, finances, and personal information.

The allegations include Diddy paying for Cassie’s car, apartments, and clothing, as well as having access to her medical records.

The suit claims that Combs provided Cassie with drugs, including ecstasy and ketamine, encouraging her to consume them. Moreover, it alleges frequent physical violence, with Cassie reportedly being beaten multiple times each year.
