Nigeria’s representatives at the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, Edo Queens, are on the verge of Zooming into the semifinals of the competition but will have to overcome defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies of South Africa on Saturday.
Edo Queens opened their campaign in the tournament with an emphatic 3-0 demolition of CBE and went ahead to draw goalless against Masar in the second group match, and currently lead the group with four points in two matches followed by Masar who have also garnered four points and will next face CBE in the final group match.

Mamelodi Sundowns have won two of the three editions held so far, with AS FAR of Morocco winning one.
In Group A, AS FAR are running the show with six points already in the kitty guaranteeing them a place in the semifinals, TP Mazembe and UCW both have three points to place second and third respectively. Last Group match pairings in Group A indicate that Aigles de la Médina of Senegal will face TP Mazembe of DR Congo on Friday in what looks like formality match for the ladies from Senegal who are already out of the competition after two defeats.
The second match of the group will see high flying hosts AS Far take on UWC Ladies of South Africa who will need to post a table turning performance to progress.
The second match on Saturday will see FC Masar of Egypt lock horns against CBE of Ethiopia.
Should Edo Queens emerge Champions at the tournament which ends November 23, they will be handing new Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, his first trophy. It will also mark an improved performance from the record of Bayelsa Queens who finished third at the 2022 edition after beating Simba Queens of Tanzania by a lone goal.
