Barcelona Femini star striker Oshoala who could only play one game at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco against South Africa after she copped a knee ligament injury is Nigeria’s only hopeful for a prize after teammate Gift Monday lost out in the final shortlist for the CAF Young Player of the Year.
Head coach of the Falcons, Randy Waldrum also misses out from the final shortlist for the Coach of the Year category.
The award could be Oshoala’s fifth prize as she has won the gong on four previous occasions.
To complete a treble of misses for Nigeria, Rivers Angels were also not nominated for the Inter-club Team of the Year award.
Oshoala will contend for the award as the continent’s best women player with Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout Njoya and Zambia forward Grace Chanda.
The award ceremony which could not hold in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic will begin 8pm Nigerian time on Thursday.
