Hours after Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai threatened to revolt against the leadership of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mai Mala Buni, the returnee chairman has just paid him a visit, raising hopes that the March 26 National Convention would hold as planned.

‘’In politics, disagreement does not necessarily amount to enmity. March 26th is the Day. Make no Mistake about it,’’ an official of the party said.

Buni has been in the eye of the storm following his initial sack by President Muhammadu Buhari and subsequent return as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) threatened not to recognise the newly-installed chairman, Abubakar Sani Bello, the Niger State governor.

Since his return to the country, Buni, not ready to legitimise any of the actions taken by Acting Chairman Bello  in his absence, has insisted on sticking to his own original plans, especially as it affects the chairmanship and membershiop of National Convention Sub Committees.

Recall that El-Rufai, alongside the Ondo State Governor Akeredolu and other governors have been in loud support of Buni’s removal.  Buni was accused of planning to truncate the National Convention for personal reasons.

The ‘Yahoo Yahoo governors’ in the last few months became a popular term used to  refer to governors allegedly opposed to President Buhari’s will and timely hosting of the the National Convention.

Prime Business Africa exclusively reported that Governor El-Rufai alongside two others were in London on Sunday to meet with President Buhari to provide updates on the issues about National Convention and the A PC leadership.
