Days after joining Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has secured the presidential ticket of the party for the 2023 election.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State last week, resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) where he had aspired to contest for Nigeria’s president in 2023 over developments he said were making it practically impossible for him to continue being a member of the party.

Obi emerged as the LP’s presidential candidate after two aspirants: Professor of Political Economic, Prof. Pat Utomi and Joseph Faduri stepped down for him at a national convention and presidential primary held in Asaba, Delta State on Monday (today).

Prof. Utomi endorsed Obi saying he has the capacity to bring positive changes needed in Nigeria.

BREAKING: Obi Clinches Labour Party Presidential Ticket

Prof. Utomi-led National Consultative Front (NCFront) has together with other civil society organisations, political parties and labour movements been mobilizing the Third Force Movement with the mission of providing an alternative platform to wrestle power from the two dominant political parties – APC and PDP and rescue the country from poor governance.

The Third Force recently adopted Labour Party as the platform through which it will contest elections in 2023.

The movement in a statement on Sunday signed by the NCFront National Communications Executive, Ms Bilikis Bello, called on more leaders of conscience across the country to join the Labour Party to form a formidable force ahead of 2023.
