BPE, NERC, Electricity Employees Union Sign MOU, End AEDC Staff Strike

The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) and National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding ending the ending industrial action by staff of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

AEDC Staff had embarked on strike on Monday morning which disrupted power supply in its franchise areas over unresolved dispute bordering on unpaid entitlements.

At the meeting which was held at the conference room of the honourable minister of state for power, Abuja, government through the ministry promised to ensure payment of outstanding entitlements of AEDC Staff within 21 days.

Prime Business Africa learnt that the intervention was led by minister of state for Power, Goddy Judy-Agba, NERC chairman, Sanusi Garba, director general of BPE, Alex Okoh, and other top government officials to resolve the impasse.

AEDC’s franchise area include Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger states and the FCT.
