Niger State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Ketso says the emergence of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello as chairman of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was destined by God.
Ahmed Mohammed Ketso stated this at a special prayer session organised by the state’s Commissioner’s Forum at the Government House, Minna on Tuesday. The special prayer session, according to Ketso was to honour Bello
Ketso commended the state cabinet members for their thoughtful decision to conduct the special prayer for the governor’s new national assignment.
The Deputy Governor noted that Governor Bello did not lobby for the national assignment.
“Governor Bello’s elevation as National Chairman,Care Taker Extraordinary Convention Committee of APC,is an act of God, he never asked for it. He is just a member of the committee; but you know (that) someone that has a pure heart will always have God with him,” Ketso said.
“According to Ketso,we as his subordinates working together with him will offer to sustain him in that position. That will strengthen him in that position; that will guide him in that position, to be able to take necessary decisions. this is why we offered special prayers for today (Tuesday),” he said in response to a question by Prime Business Africa Correspondent in Minna.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the Commissioner’s Forum and Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development, Mamman Musa, said the essence of the prayer was to support Governor Bello’s in his national assignment.
Mamman Musa noted that Governor Bello had enormous task ahead of him as APC National Chairman and despite some challenges confronting his administration at the state level,God panned another leadership position for him.
“We felt that, as his lieutenants, there is nothing we can do for him other than offer prayers to God,” Musa said.
The Commissioner further stated that no matter how short period his tenure in office could be, Governor Bello would fine-tune the APC. He gave the assurance that the new chairman would bring an end to all challenges facing the APC across at the national level.
Chief Imam of the Minna Central Mosque, Shiek Ibrahim Isah Fari, led the Muslim prayers, while the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend (Dr) Mathias Ethioda, led the Christian prayers.
