Bello Yusuf, Ex-interior Minister Dies At 76

Alhaji Bello Maitama Yusuf, a former minister, has passed away at the age of 76. Yusuf, who also served as a senator from 1999 to 2007, breathed his last in the early hours of Friday in Kano.

The sad news of his demise was confirmed by Alhaji Hussaini Dalhatu, a close family friend of the late statesman. He revealed that the funeral prayer for Sardauna Dutse, as Yusuf was fondly known, is scheduled to take place at the Emir of Kano’s palace following the Jumu’at prayer.

Bello Maitama Yusuf, originally hailing from Gwaram, Jigawa State, was a prominent figure in Nigerian politics. He held the position of Minister of Interior in 1981 and later served as Minister of Commerce in 1982.
