Barcelona are on the cusp of signing of Mexican right back, Julian Araujo from MLS side, LA Galaxy, after missing out on signing the youngster on January 31.

Barcelona made move in the winter to sign the 21-year-old from the MLS outfit. An agreement over a €4 million deal was reached swiftly and personal terms were also sorted out.

However, it emerged that the Catalans missed the deadline to submit the necessary documents for the transfer by a mere 18 seconds.

The La Liga leaders appealedd to FIFA but the world football governing body did not authorise the deal, leaving Araujo in limbo as he could not return to the MLS either.

Barcelona consequently turned to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to authorise the transfer.

The inside information from the Nou Camp according to transfer-related journalist, Fabrizio Romano, indicate that had Barcelona not won the appeal in the CAS, the plan was to loan Araujo to a different club for the rest of the season or have him sold officially.

Good news came out of the team on Wednesday as it has been revealed that the player will be arriving on Thursday to sign on the dotted lines.

The 21-year-old Mexican international will be signing a contract with Barcelona until 2026.

It is expected that the youngster will be linking up with Barça Atletic but will be called up to the senior team as and when required.

The arrival of the youngster may have ramifications in the future of Sergi Roberto who is expected to sign a new, long-term deal at the club.
