Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has pledged his commitment to rescuing Nigeria from shackles of poor governance if elected in the 2023 general elections.
Abubakar stated this while speaking during PDP’s official campaign flag-off in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Monday.

He said that in 2015, Nigerians wanted a change and voted APC into power to have a breath of fresh air in leadership but according to him, the ruling party has failed to live up to its promises of making the country better than it took over from the PDP.
“Nigeria said they wanted change, and they voted for change in 2015. What have we seen? What we have seen is poverty, insecurity, lack of jobs and disunity,” Atiku stated.
He however, claimed that when the PDP was in power, it “lifted Nigeria from the bottom to the top” in different sectors of the economy in Africa.
Referring to the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Atiku lamented that students have been forced to be out of school which has various consequences on the nation, and promised to resolve the issues once and for all of voted into power next year.
He said, “Our children are no longer going to school. Is that what we want to continue with?
“I swear, if you vote for PDP, you’ll all go back to schools; you will get jobs; there will be security; and there will be unity,” Atiku stated
Speaking on his mission as they embark on campaigns, he urged Nigerians to vote for PDP to reform the country and return to prosperity.
“Today, we have flagged off our campaign to rescue Nigeria from hunger, and poverty and to bring back the unity that we require in this country. Therefore, I want to appeal to all Nigerians by standing today in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, to ask them to vote for PDP.
“If you vote for PDP, it will be a return to prosperity; it will be a return to unity; there will be no more hunger and there will be security.”
The PDP officially kicked off campaign for its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the vice presidential candidate, Delta State Governor, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
The party’s official flag-off rally which took place at the Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo, had thousands of supporters gathered to cheer the PDP presidential candidate on Monday.
At the rally, Atiku was surrounded by his running mate, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, PDP national chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal who is the DG of Atiku/Okowa Campaign team, among others.
