Aspirants Must Afford N50M To Consider Running For Presidency – APC Women’s Leader

National Women’s leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Betta Edu, on Thursday stirred controversy as she insisted that expression of interests for political candidates must be based squarely on being able to afford interest forms, reports Prime Business Africa.

Edu is guest of Arise TV on ‘The Morning Show’ that is currently airing.

The London trained Health worker who is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health, United Kingdom and current Cross River state Health Commissioner said: “If you don’t have access to N50 million, you aren’t on the level to contest for the presidency.”

Edu also hinted that the ruling party contributed to the successful Presidential campaign of Barack Obama, the former USA president who has his African heritage in Kenya.

Edu displayed eloquence and is well versed in Nigeria politics and at the global level albeit her opinion on financial commitments is certain to draw the ire of many a Nigerian who believe that there many capable individuals worthy of leading the nation but may not be able to afford the Presidential forms.

Edu became the Women’s leader of the APC in March 2022.
