Arsenal on Friday morning confirmed the contract extensions of first team managers Mikel Arteta (men) and Jonas Eidevall (women) following the teams’ impressive runs in the current season.
The deal is said to be worth 9.9 million euros (about N4. 3 billion naira) per season which was what manager Wenger was on during his last year at the Emirates.
Arteta who took charge of the Gunners on 2019 is on the cusp of qualifying the team for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the retirement of iconic manager Arsene Wenger has been handed a new deal until the summer of 2025.
Join our WhatsApp Channel“I’m excited, grateful and really, really happy today,” Arteta said after signing the extension, which runs until the end of season 2024/25.
“We want to take the club to the next level and to compete really with the top teams. In order to do that, we have to be playing in the Champions League.
“We have to be able to evolve the team, improve our players, improve all departments, generate even more connection with our fans, improve the atmosphere at the Emirates, be able to recruit top, top talent and the best people for this club to drive this project to that level.”
Arsenal Women’s manager, Jonas Eidevall also put pen to paper on a new deal after an impressive first season in London, in which he has taken the Women’s Super League title challenge all the way to the final weekend.
Jonas, who joined the team from Swedish side Rosengard last summer, has signed a contract to the end of the 2023/24 season.
