ANAMBRA GUBER: Buhari Congratulates Soludo On Victory At Polls

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his victory at the just concluded Anambra State governorship election.

Soludo who was the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was declared winner of the election on Tuesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after collation of the results in which he, on the whole, polled 107,421 votes, defeating his major rivals, Dr Valentine Ozigbo of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 53,102 votes and Senator Andy Uba of All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 43,327 votes, and amongst other minor political parties.

Buhari expressed his felicitation to Soludo through a statement issued on Wednesday by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

The President commended security agencies for their determination to ensure that the election went on as smoothly as possible, and INEC for the successful conclusion of the exercise despite the initial challenges encountered.

He urged Soludo, who is also a member of the Presidential Economic Advisory Committee, to rally other stakeholders in order to address the enormous challenges confronting the State and the Southeast region in general.

“The President looks forward to working with the incoming governor for the peace, security, and development of not only Anambra State, but the entire country,” the statement indicated.
