ALL Progressives Congress (APC) Secretary in Orumba North LGA, Anambra State, Hon Chukwuemeka Nnebe has opposed the demand for cancellation of the Saturday governorship election made by the APC state Chairman, Mr Basil Ejidike.

Nebe in a statement issued on Monday questioned the authority of Ejidike to challenge the outcome of the election, which has so far made candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof Chukwuma Soludo winner in most LGAs so far declared by INEC.

The LGA party scribe described Ejidike as a “fifth columnist” who is against the interest of democracy in the state.

The APC state chapter Chairman had on Sunday night after INEC declared APGA winner of the election in 18 out of 20 LGAs that have been successfully conducted, issued a statement calling for the cancellation of the election, accusing APGA of conniving with INEC officials to rig the election in favour of the party.

Ejidike had said the APC would not accept the outcome of the election and threatened to go to court if INEC proceed to announce the candidate of APGA as the winner.

But in reaction to that, Nebe said that what transpired during the exercise means that the people have spoken through the voting about who they want to lead the state.

He said, “What locus does Basil Ejidike have to challenge the outcome of the election when the process that produced the candidate of his party the All Progressives Congress APC leaves much to be desired.

“Anambra people have spoken going by the results already announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC and the ranting of the opposition cannot change the wishes and aspirations of Ndi Anambra to sustain the socio-economic development of our dear state.”

He urged members of the public to disregard the statement from the state party chairman.
