In an effort to bolster ties with operational stakeholders and keep the media abreast of its latest developments, Airtel Nigeria held a Media Roundtable, spotlighting significant business developments and reaffirming their commitment to innovation
The event which took place at Radisson Hotel Ikeja on Thursday, November 16th, 2023, drew over 40 senior editors, providing them with a platform to engage directly with key leaders from Airtel Nigeria.

Discussions centered around topics such as Airtel Nigeria’s enterprise offerings, collaborations with public sector Chief Information Officers (CIOs), the imminent 5G rollout, and updates on Airtel Nigeria’s subsidiary, Smartcash Payment Service Bank.
Femi Adeniran, the Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, emphasized the significance of the roundtable in keeping the media informed about Airtel Nigeria’s activities. He expressed gratitude to the attendees, highlighting the event as a crucial platform for dialogue.

“We have had several events that have brought us together in the past months, but we thought it is important to have a closer community discussion,” remarked Adeniran.
“The essence of this event is to have a good time together while we give you an understanding of what is currently going on in Airtel.”
During the session, Ogo Ofomata, Director of Airtel Business, detailed the company’s efforts in providing data and cloud management solutions to SMEs and government agencies.
Ofomata highlighted a special event tailored for the public sector, aiming to showcase efficient data management solutions to around 46 government agencies.
Head of B2B Sales at Smartcash PSB, Judith Osiobe, unveiled the launched Smartcash international remittance service. Osiobe stressed its role in ensuring global financial inclusion, citing competitive tariffs and ease of activation through mobile devices.
Ismail Adeshina, Airtel Nigeria’s Director of Marketing, expanded on the telecom giant’s commitment to advancing service delivery through 5G technology. He highlighted the investment in 5G infrastructure and collaborations with technology partners for innovative use cases.
Addressing concerns about the impact of 5G on existing networks, Adeshina reassured the audience, stating, “Every Airtel site is a 2G, 3G and 4G site. 5G deployment will not affect any of these, especially because the deployment is prioritized based on use cases and need.”
The presentations were followed by an engaging question-and-answer session, cementing the event’s interactive nature. Airtel Nigeria expressed gratitude to the attending media and expressed eagerness for future collaborations to strengthen their relationship.
