U.S. Commercial Service and the African Development Bank have cemented a  partnership aimed at revolutionizing digital innovation across the African continent.

“This is a pivotal moment for Africa’s technological evolution,” remarked Ashley Ndir, senior U.S. Commercial Liaison to the African Development Bank during the Africa Tech Festival in Cape Town, the U.S. . “By bridging insights from U.S. businesses with Africa’s dynamic markets, we’re propelling innovation and economic progress. This partnership epitomizes that goal.”

Nicholas Williams, Head of ICT Operations at the African Development Bank, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Africa has diligently invested in crucial infrastructure and policies to cultivate a vibrant digital economy. Our collaboration with the U.S. private sector aims to further propel Africa’s digital frontiers, harnessing the energy of our tech-savvy youth.”

This initiative builds upon the African Development Bank $2 billion investment in digital infrastructure, encompassing regional and national broadband expansion, cultivating favorable policies for private sector involvement, nurturing digital skills, and fostering innovative enterprises.

Through this collaboration, the Bank aims to bolster efforts that have already slashed internet costs, boosted digital literacy, and nurtured an environment conducive to business growth and policy development.

The synergy between the African Development Bank’s extensive digital investments and the U.S. Commercial Service’s expertise in global trade promises to champion Africa’s digital transformation.
