Julius OkorieThe Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has named 23-man squad for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Cheetahs of Benin and Amavubi of Rwanda.
The squad is made of up of three goalkeepers with South Africa based Stanley Nwabali leading the pack, seven defenders, six midfielders, and seven forwards.

Nottingham Forest forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, who has not featured for Eagles since the 1-1 draw against Lesotho, during the World Cup qualifiers in November, makes a return to the team and to Uyo.
The Super Eagles are scheduled to face the Cheetahs of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, 7th September, before travelling to Kigali to play against the Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, 10th September.

All invited players are expected to assemble in Uyo on Monday, September 2nd ahead of the games, and is likely to be their first meeting point with newly appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia. Recall that the NFF had to pick and submit list to CAF even before Labbadia was appointed to meet deadline. Interestingly Labbadia’s first outing will be against his compatriot Gernot Rohr, who was super Eagles coach and current coach of Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
