Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team D’Tigress with a scoring of 59 -70 defeated Mali in the final match of the 2021 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket, retaining the title for the third time in a roll. Dare commended the girls for putting the country on the global map of basketball while promising that the ministry will move forward working closely with the Nigerian Basketball Federation to further develop the game in the country. He went on to thank “each and every player, those that went to the Olympics, those that went to Senegal, and those that went to Cameron. That entire team has always done this country proud and I know that they have more victories ahead of them.”

D’Tigress won their first trophy in 2017, Bamako, claiming their second title in Dakar Senegal 2019.
