Izuchukwu OkosiNigeria’s Super Eagles dropped one place below their previous position in the latest FIFA ranking for the month of September 2023, released on Thursday by the world football governing body, Prime Business Africa reports.
Despite a 6-0 trouncing of hapless Sao Tome and Principe in their last qualifying match to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivorie which begins on 13 January 2024, the Super Eagles saw their ranking plummet and are currently out of the top 5 places on the African continent.

Semifinalists at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Atlas Lions of Morocco, has moved two places up to position 13, remaining the leading African nation in the rankings while reigning African champions Senegal dropped two places from position 18 but remains amongst the top 20 in the world as they occupy position 20.
